Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc. (LVA) and title sponsor Tic Tac® have created an online interactive lottery called 2000 Reasons American Should Read. LVA has invited celebrities, librarians, adult education practitioners, businesspeople, students, teachers, and the general public to submit online their favorite reason to read. Celebrity entries will be featured prominently on the opening page, and will rotate regularly.
Reasons submitted from May 1 – September 30, 2000 will be posted on an electronic bulletin board accessible from the site and entered into a lottery. Three names will be pulled at the organization's national conference in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 7, 2000, and the prize winners will be notified by mail.
